Created as part of the "Classroom to the Streets" program by Beyond Walls, this mural is the result of a powerful collaboration between Bublegum, local educators, and students. The project transformed classroom dialogues into a monumental work of art, giving a public voice to the youth of Lynn, a city defined by its rich cultural diversity and immigrant heritage.
At the heart of the composition is a sea turtle, a migratory animal that travels vast distances while always carrying its home with it. To the artist and the students, the turtle symbolizes resilience, protection, and the journey of migration. Its shell represents the strength and safety that the Lynn community offers to those who arrive from afar.
Surrounding the central figure are three distinct flowers, the Rose, the Protea, and the Lotus, each representing the continents of America, Africa, and Asia, celebrating the global origins of the city’s residents. Through a palette of vibrant colors and intricate ornamental details, the mural radiates energy, hope, and the warmth of a community that proudly opens its doors to the world.
